In Findeln, above Zermatt (2051 metres above sea level), is the Findlerhof restaurant, which is situated amid a hiking and skiing area very similar to those around Zermatt. Many things are still the same as they were in the mountain huts that once stood here a hundred and fifty years ago. Everything is still the same. There is no doubt that Edward Whymper, the first climber of the Matterhorn, could walk in with his rope team with no one being surprised.
It would be a dream come true for any city dweller with an eye for authenticity if they were fortunate enough to have access to two sun terraces. One is directly in front of the old chalet building, while the other is slightly elevated next to it (the solarium). Nestled above the ancient wooden hamlet of Blatten, this quaint little mountain restaurant offers the perfect combination of alpine ambience, superb service, incredible food, and stunning views from its sun terrace that will take your breath away. The Bergrestaurant Blatten is one of the oldest eateries in Zermatt (it’s approximately 30 minutes by foot from the village), owned by the famous Taugwalder family, descendants of the two mountain guides who successfully ascended the Matterhorn in 1865, making this one of the oldest eateries around the village.

In 1967, Renate and Simon Biner built and opened a mountain restaurant at 1800 metres above sea level on Furi called Simi, in which they started up the business of mountain food service. It has been nearly 40 years since Stefan Leitner and Sebastien di Stefano opened the doors of their hotel to guests, and they continue to welcome and care for them.
